What may well be the world's smallest Christmas greeting has been fabricated by the University of Glasgow's nanotech lab. The Christmas tree has been etched into a piece of glass too small to see with the naked eye. David Cumming, a prof at the U of G, states "The card is 200 micro-meters wide by 290 micro-meters tall. To put that into some sort of perspective, a micro-meter is a millionth of a meter." As you can see from the image here, a pin head nearly dwarfs this belated holiday hello.

First on our list is the deadly motherfuggin Dragon Millipede from South East Asia. Not only is this thing horrednous to look at but it also produces and shoots fresh hot cyanide into unsuspecting eyes. Good job creating this one universe. I mean seriously. Fuck this thing!

Rest In Peace, Captain Beefheart

Dom Van Vliet, more widely known by his performance title, Captain Beefheart, died early Friday in northern California after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 69 years old. Dom Van Vliet is a name easily listed in the hall of immortal avant-garde musicians; and Beefheart's 1969 LP, "Trout Mask Replica," is worth many, many listens for anyone out there looking for some eccentric, jazzy, and impressively challenging music. The Panama City, Florida School Board was held hostage yesterday by a man by the name of Clay Duke. He hailed himself and "freedom fighter" and then proceeded to take a shot at each member of the board. Amazingly no one on the board was hurt. Luckily there happened to be a retired police officer on the premises and he was able to wound Mr. Clay through an exchange of gunfire. Mr. Clay then shot himself shortly there after.
