Rest In Peace, Captain Beefheart

Dom Van Vliet, more widely known by his performance title, Captain Beefheart, died early Friday in northern California after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 69 years old. Dom Van Vliet is a name easily listed in the hall of immortal avant-garde musicians; and Beefheart's 1969 LP, "Trout Mask Replica," is worth many, many listens for anyone out there looking for some eccentric, jazzy, and impressively challenging music.
